Since writing last night, I’ve been fantasizing about compiling a progressive spell book. I define witchcraft as trying to accomplish things without taking intentional thought and action to bring them to pass. For example, in a less PC day, witches said strange words and threw things in a cauldron. Below are a few spells I find frequently while perusing the newspapers.

  • To eliminate poverty, say: Signature gateways are necessary to foster community identity.
  • To create a prosperous economy, say: Economic development programs create vibrant, green-collar, twenty-first century jobs that will revitalize downtown and move it forward, into the future.
  • To improve students’ academic performance, say: Diversity awareness empowers a new day for our children in our community.
  • To create wealth with stricter design standards, say: Working together as a team, we’ll weave diverse elements into a tapestry of synergies because now is the time.

etc.
