…from an unexpected source. Northwest Airlines, which was of course recently bought by Delta Air Lines, is increasing capacity to its Memphis hub in a major way this spring. There will still be three flights a day, but they will be on 76-seat aircraft instead of 50-seaters.

I know a lot of people are predicting that the combined DL/NW draws down Memphis, but I just don’t see that happening — MEM has value both as it attracts some passenger flows that won’t fly to Atlanta and as an alternative to take some of the passenger flows off Atlanta.
