It’s hardly news any more that the Democratic Congress is intent on paying off the special interests that backed Democratic candidates last fall. From what I’ve heard recently on radio, Congress has a very low approval rating. If people knew about this story it would sink even further.

The story in question is legislation that public employee unions want that blocks the states from finding more economical ways of delivering welfare services by contracting work out to private enterprise. Never mind that it works better and saves money — the unions don’t want it and their obedient critters in Congress are glad to go along.
