People across the United States die each year because federal regulators have blocked access to treatments that could extend or even save their lives. But more than half of the states have approved “Right to Try” legislation in recent years. It enables terminally ill patients to access medication that has entered the clinical trial stage in the federal regulatory process.
The Arizona-based Goldwater Institute has been a vocal proponent of the “Right to Try” movement. Executive vice president Christina Sandefur discussed “Right to Try” laws with the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society. She offers a basic synopsis in the video clip below.
