A bill moving through an N.C. Senate committee as early as today would give a state legislative commission another 18 months to study the impacts of global climate change.

The special commission is now scheduled to deliver a final report to lawmakers by November 1. The bill under consideration would extend the deadline to April 15, 2008. The commission would submit an interim report by January 15, 2007 — in time for the start of the next “long” legislative session.
