Escalating the scream factor, the United Way has Vision Councils. It should go without saying that said entities are charged with developing action plans to meet objectives in key areas. The new approach is supposed to “target community impacts.”

The areas are:

HEALTH

  1. Create an environment that supports health
  2. Provide needed health care and resources
  3. Eliminate substance abuse

INCOME

  1. Create affordable housing
  2. Attract, obtain and maintain diverse industries
  3. Create sufficient affordable health care

EDUCATION

  1. Expand non-traditional education opportunities
  2. Increase/change perception of the value of education
  3. Increase collaboration to align resources.

Whereas some “areas” have doable projects; if people really wanted to solve most of these problems, they would effect deregulation, rather than trying to invent their own little program to fail in the footsteps of all control-minded predecessors.
