If it?s true that voters tend to favor candidates with an optimistic message, then Barack Obama should steer clear of the sentiments espoused in the latest column from one of Newsweek?s Democratic mouthpieces, Anna Quindlen.

Here?s my favorite passage:

Most of us feel the ground trembling beneath our feet, as though the epicenter of an earthquake is somewhere else but still nearby. Some of the growth industries in the country nowadays are built around disaster.

Who knows how long it will take Ms. Quindlen to recover from the blues associated with Hillary Clinton’s defeat?
