It is official. And unanimous. The Metropolitan Transit Committee voted unanimously last night to ask the state for permission to double the existing half-cent transit tax.

In doing so, Charlotte city manager Curt Walton may have set a record for ducking a question. Back in mid-2007 I asked Walton if CATS would require additional dedicated revenue to complete the $9.5b. transit plan adopted in 2006.

I never got an answer. Until last night.
