Pat Mumford is parachuting from Wachovia to the city of Charlotte payroll in order to stabilize the city’s haphazard economic development forays. The Charlotte Business Journal is reporting that Mumford will head the newly combined neighborhood and economic development efforts.

Maybe Pat can make sure that the city does not attempt to do deals with developers who still owe property tax to the city. Or here’s a better one: Pappas Properties is getting a city loan on the Scaleybark transit oriented development deal, yet still continues to collect payouts from the city — property tax rebates — on the Midtown Square development. How does that make any sense?

Unless Pappas needs the cash-flow….. Run Pat! Run!
