In the race for Asheville City Council seats, incumbent Jan Davis had 40 more votes than Lael Gray election night. Provisional ballots were counted today, and the lead has narrowed to 34. Gray has requested a recount.
Meanwhile, the ever-electable Mayor Terry Bellamy announced her intent to run against Patrick McHenry for US Congress. According to the local daily, Bellamy is black and youthful, the mother of two kids and a nephew, and running to stop bickering in Washington and create jobs.
