The Muslim Student Association at UNC-Chapel Hill should be comended for holding a discussion
on Islam and its teachings in the wake of controversies surrounding The
Daily Tar Heel publishing a cartoon that showed an image of the Prophet
Muhammad – an act of blasphemy in the Islam faith.

It’s good to see the students take the opportunity to discuss the issue and debate instead of protesting.

However, one must wonder
if a Christian group tried to let students know about Jesus and his
teachings and beliefs if they would be applauded on campus and given a
front-page article in The Daily Tar Heel for their efforts?
