Fox News asks the question: was the stimulus worth it?
You may not care what my father thinks and that is fine. But he is a good barometer of Democratic discontent. My father is a blue collar, union guy from western Pennsylvania who has voted straight party Democrat in every election since forever.
I can count on one hand the number of times my dad has said anything negative about a Democrat. (He didn’t much care for Jimmy Carter. Seriously, though, who did?) So, I was shocked when dad criticized Democrats for signing onto the stimulus bill. He believes that the federal government should create jobs (he should know better), but he sees through the phony job creation numbers concocted by the White House. More than that, wasteful stimulus spending sent him over the edge, particularly the $800,000 for the John Murtha Airport in Johnstown, PA.
So, Democrats, be very afraid of alienating people like my dad. He may vote Republican for the first time in his life.
