As far as I can tell, no new developments in Guilford County’s desperate search for legal help. Remember, they’re supposedly looking for both a firm and a deputy county attorney. Despite the confusion when commissioners tried to hash it out last week, I think it’s clear the strategy is to have a firm represent them and give direction to the in-house lackey handling the day-to-day chores. Maybe I’m misinterpreting things.

Former interim county attorney David Smith is still MIA, but the Rhino’s Scott Yost tracked down Alamance County Attorney Clyde Albright, who worked with Smith in Alamance County. Albright is also a former Greensboro assistant city attorney, and he made a very interesting comment about Greensboro and Guilford County government, saying everything seems to be driven by a “mythical, magical racism.”

No elaboration on exactly what Albright meant by that comment. But I think some Greensboro City Council members —the ones not on Stand Up Greensboro’s list— just got fed up with it.
