A unanimous three-judge panel of the N.C. Court of Appeals has reversed a trial court’s ruling and ruled instead in favor of Greensboro in a race discrimination lawsuit involving a city police officer. The appellate ruling throws out the portion of the suit involving the city itself and the former police chief and deputy police chief acting in their official capacities. The suit also targets former chief David Wray and former deputy chief Randall Brady as individuals.

Among other opinions released this morning, a unanimous three-judge panel affirmed a trial-court ruling against the company involved in setting up a July 4, 2009, fireworks display in Ocracoke that led to a fatal explosion.
