A unanimous three-judge panel of the N.C. Court of Appeals has affirmed this morning a lower-court ruling favoring State Highway Patrol trooper Wade Bryan Bulloch in his legal fight for his job. Bulloch was fired in 2005 and has been fighting the Patrol and the N.C. Department of Crime Control and Public Safety in a series of legal hearings since 2009.

  • A unanimous three-judge panel affirmed a lower court ruling against the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources and the N.C. State Archives in a dispute over ownership of the Charles E. Johnson Collection, which contains manuscripts and documents from Johnson’s ancestors, who included original U.S. Supreme Court Justice James Iredell Sr. and N.C. Gov. James Iredell Jr.
  • A unanimous three-judge panel affirmed a ruling from the N.C. Industrial Commission favoring the N.C. Department of Transportation in a dispute over who was at fault in the 2004 drowning deaths of two teens at Roanoke Rapids Lake.
  • A unanimous three-judge panel affirmed a lower court ruling against the town of Blowing Rock in a legal dispute involving a youth who was injured after stepping into a drain hole at a town-owned park.
