A unanimous three-judge panel of the N.C. Court of Appeals has affirmed this morning a lower-court ruling that the N.C. Highway Patrol could fire Trooper Monty Poarch for “unacceptable personal conduct.” Poarch lost his job in 2003 because of a complaint from a woman who said Poarch had stopped her car unlawfully after she ended their 15-year affair. The same woman testified that she and Poarch had engaged in sex in multiple Highway Patrol vehicles and in the Alexander County Highway Patrol office.
