The N.C. Supreme Court ruled 5-2 today that Ford should be free from liability in a 2003 Mecklenburg County parking lot auto wreck.
Attorneys for two children seriously injured in the wreck had sued Ford, contending faulty seatbelt design led to severe injuries. Ford contended that the injuries were due instead to the severity of the wreck and to misuse of the seatbelt in the case of at least one child.
