The N&R has picked up its coverage of alleged safety issues at Eastern Guilford High School, reporting today that the NAACP is now involved:

The civil rights group will form a task force to help address problems at the school after members met with parents, administrators and community leaders at Guilford County Schools’ central office on Monday.

“I feel like the administration already has some things in place, so we will take a look at what they have and decide what to add to it,” said Yvonne Hunt-Perry, education chairwoman of the Greensboro National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. “I just want the kids who were accused (of violations) to have a voice.”

Eastern parent and former Guilford County school board candidate Lisa Ingle Clapp, who’s been at the forefront of this issue, said her concerns had nothing to do with race.

Lots of confusion surrounding this issue. I’m sure the GCS central office is happy the school year will be over in four days.
