Two of modern America’s great money-making machines, NASCAR and Scientology, are set to link up. Via a new Dianetics race team, L. Ron Hubbard and his followers will be bringing the “Ignite Your Potential” message to race fans. Makes sense. Yet there is an odd reluctance to talk about the partnership.

The official NASCAR site makes no mention of the new team and the Dianetics race team is trying to low-key the effort in the press.

“We’re not out selling a product,” Grant Cardone, the CEO of Freedom Motorsports, the outfit fieldling the Dianetics car. If so, that will make the Dianetics car the only car in the history of NASCAR not trying to sell something.

And Cardone was not nearly so reticent to discuss Dianetics for the Scientology announcement of the team:

He, too, credits Dianetics for much of his success. Cardone, a multi-million dollar real-estate investor and motivational speaker, appears internationally at over 150 conferences and motivational events for sales and business development each year.

“I feel I was born to motivate others and as a speaker I can help inspire people—no question about it,” said Cardone. “But one thing even the best of the best motivators can’t do is solve the problems of the mind—and that’s what L. Ron Hubbard has done, in detail, in Dianetics.”

Another Freedom Motorsports principal, racer Kenton Gray, also praised Dianetics:

Gray has enjoyed success in using Dianetics in his career and personal life since first reading the book in 1996. “I’m proud and excited to now have the Dianetics Racing Team sponsoring my car,” he said.

Gray’s edge is his concentration, which he says has greatly improved by the use of Dianetics techniques in gaining confidence and certainty behind the wheel. “It’s markedly improved my focus and my consistency,” he said. “Through Dianetics I’ve handled stress and increased my performance and ability to compete—both on the track and in life.”

How thrilled the city of Charlotte must be to be in business with the Church of Scientology. After all, if NASCAR says it is OK, then it is OK — we are partners in everything according to the NASCAR Hall of Fame agreement. Share and share alike.

Hey, maybe that means we can get Tom Cruise to do the Hall ribbon cutting! Talk about igniting you potential! World class, here we come!
