Rich Lowry suggests that Democrats may turn port deal opportunism into a nativist platform.  This fits with my sense the right could split over the three “I’s”
of isolationism — opposition to immigration, imports, and Islamic
democracy. The tenor of the anti-ports deal crusade shows how closely
these are linked. President Bush was right to criticize isolationists,
even if our friends at the Cato Institute call it a “canard.”
