Chief Deputy Secretary Susan Gale Perry and State Health Director and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Elizabeth Cuervo Tilson delivered a presentation to the State Board of Education this morning.  They emphasized that schools are safe for reopening so long as preventive measures are in place.

The NC Association of Educators argue that schools will not be safe until school employees are vaccinated.  Perry echoed CDC Director Rochelle Walensky’s contention that “vaccinations of teachers is not a prerequisite for safely reopening schools.”
