A few days after a St. Petersburg, Fla., newspaper columnist gave Gov. Bev Perdue kudos for handing out tax breaks to businesses (is corporate welfare really sound public policy?), the Business Insider website offers a non-crack-addled suggestion that the Tar Heel State isn’t that great for business after all.

The site ranked North Carolina as the nation’s 10th worst state for business.

As the overview stated, “whatever your politics, it’s clear that these states tax the hell out of local businesses.”

We can hope the new General Assembly will have something to say about this.
