Should anyone be shocked that Democrats got better grades than Republicans on the N.C. Association of Educators’ legislative report card?

It’s not me saying it:

Tripp Jeffers, the president of the Forsyth County Association of Educators said he doesn’t think that Republicans’ getting lower grades than Democrats’ is incidental.

“I think, unfortunately, there is a partisan element to it,” Jeffers said.

Sen. Pete Brunstetter, a Republican, received an F, and Garrou, a Democrat, received a C-minus. Democrat Reps. Earline Parmon and Larry Womble each received an A. Republican Reps. Larry Brown, Dale Folwell and Bill McGee each got an F.

Brunstetter said that Republicans’ F grades have nothing to do with their support for education and everything to do with the association’s political agenda.

“Every legislator on both sides of the aisle supports public education,” he said. “It’s politics.”

Voting for more money certainly didn’t hurt a legislator’s grade. On that very subject, NCAE kicked around a couple of ideas about how to raise more money. Do I even need to say what they were?
