Remember earlier in the week when I took note of Gov. Bev Perdue’s assurance that she would work with Republicans in the General Assembly?

Silly me. Republicans are already bracing for a veto with their bill to divert Golden LEAF funds to help plug the budget hole just coming out of committee.

The guv says “(w)e have many hundreds of new jobs in the pipeline right now, and they depend on that money,” while bill sponsor Sen. Pete Brunstetter says the governor says “(i)f the governor has a project that is significant enough to merit the legislature’s attention, she can still come and make her case.”

The bill is scheduled to go before the full Senate today.
