“Diversity,” NCSU diversity czar Jos? Picart recently stated, is “a bridge between tolerating people and valuing them.” Stephen H. Balch was correct in his address to the Pope Center conference last fall when he spoke about the New Age university. Balch said the New Age university seeks to reform and redeem society, and in that respect it has revived practices of the old-time denominational colleges. And Picart is definitely a high priest in this quasireligious movement.

“They seek to supplant the concept of tolerance with ‘the affirmation of difference,’ a euphemism for forced approval and coerced conscience,” Balch said.
