If parents saddle themselves with long commute times to ensure their kids live in areas with access to the best schools, imagine the positive impact if more parents could have a choice of quality schools closer to where they actually want to live.
That’s one of the scenarios N.C. State University finance and real estate professor Bartley Danielsen mentioned during a presentation today to the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society. Danielsen’s main theme is that school choice has a positive impact on the environment by decreasing the likelihood of urban sprawl and inner-city blight.
