Boy, what a surprise. WTVD out of Raleigh reports:

N.C. State Chancellor James Oblinger said Monday that he thinks the wife of former Gov. Mike Easley should step down from her job at the university.

The comment was made during a discussion with reporters following two top level resignations at NC State over her hiring last week.

First, N.C. State Provost Larry Nielsen resigned on Thursday, citing scrutiny of his role in getting Easley her job. The former first lady got a three-year contract at $80,000 a year in 2005 and later a 5-year contract worth $850,000 to run a campus speaker series and a public safety center.

Oblinger knows he is next unless he helps Erskine Bowles clean up this funk. Why he does not go ahead and fire the former First Lady of the state escapes me…wait, no it does not. He is a bureaucrat and a flunky and as such cannot be expected to make a stand on principle.
