Jim Neal’s inspiration to run against Sen. Elizabeth Dole:

Neal said he decided to announce his candidacy last week after Dole voted against a child health insurance bill that would have added $35 billion to insure families who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to buy health coverage. The bill passed Congress, but President Bush ultimately vetoed it.

No elaboration on what he would have done differently, but it’s early yet. For now, though, he looks like another Democrat pushing for socialized medicine.
