Daryl Hunt is negotiating with the city of Winston-Salem for his wrongful imprisonment.

There’s a bit of a gulf in the negtiations, though: The city’s offering $500,000 while Hunt’s asking $2.6 million, which is a bargain, according to Peter Neufield of The Innocence Project.

The insurance fund allows for payments up to $1 million, with any additional payments coming from other sources of revenue. Perhaps Billy Prim will show some benevolence and lop off a bit of his $29 million to help out.
