I’m beginning to think that “neighborhood activist” means “people who get involved in things that aren’t any of their business. Read this story and ask what Duke’s Central Campus has to do with the Watts-Hillandale community? Or the Old North Durham neighborhood for that matter. Still, “neighborhood activists” from both of those communities insist on trying to put a spanner in the works. These are the same kind of people who predicted all sorts of community decay when University Tower was being planned. They’re not for smart growth. It’s no growth that they want.
