Despite getting the financial thumbs-down from the Feds, the Triangle Transit Authority is stubbornly refusing to put the rail-line idea on the funeral pyre.

In an effort to show just how much residents want a rail line, the TTA is partnering with a private development firm to create the growth necessary to justify rail-line corridors (Doesn’t work). That’s right, the TTA is manufacturing demand by artificially creating the environment that the Feds would view as favorable for light rail.

The heck with what the people want.

Meanwhile, I-40 is still crumbling — as are other, neglected roads, traffic is growing, bridges are falling apart, and funding gaps still exist between projections and transportation needs.

Priorities. Will a choo-choo really help Raleigh, or the state for that matter, in tackling our transportation woes?
