Carolina Journal Online reports that Gov. Pat McCrory’s office has confirmed that the governor held an unpublicized meeting with a “candidate” for the UNC system president’s job. That meeting, earlier reported to have been held last week with former U.S. Education Secretary Margaret Spellings, preceded UNC’s announcement Tuesday that a new president will be announced Friday.
