Given the fact that Ralph Lauren exec George Clopton is already on the board of the International Civil rights Center and Museum –thus (supposedly) with a front-row seat to the debt bloodbath— it’s hard to see how he’s going to bring meaningful change that will keep the museum’s doors open.

Still, reaction is positive, especially from Mayor Robbie Perkins and council member Nancy Vaughan, who are squaring off in the upcoming municipal election.

More interesting is the city’s reaction to the museum’s audits, which it received late Tuesday. Outgoing board chairman Skip Alston assures the audits are “clean,” a condition of the city’s $1.5 million loan.
