…Will be Brunswick County Manager Marty Lawing, the Rhino reports:
Lawing, who has served as the manager for Brunswick County since 2001, ran various local governments earlier in his career before taking the job as the top administrator for Brunswick County on the coast of North Carolina.
In his career, Lawing has served as the city administrator – which is equivalent to a city manager in North Carolina – for Conway, Bennettsville and Bishopville, South Carolina.
….The search for a Guilford County manager has been the cause of a lot of division among the Board of Commissioners in recent weeks. The board’s five Republicans favored Lawing, while there was a lot of support among the Democratic commissioners for a black candidate who came in second. That runner-up was, by many accounts, qualified for the job and, unlike Lawing, he came from a local government larger than Guilford County.
The N&R follows up, citing the Rhino’s report. Looks like the local daily has been scooped once again.
