Don Surber says New Media has clout that Old Media never did. He bases that on the progress made recently on eliminating porked-up earmarks in Congress:

Yet we have gone nowhere.
Now between the Sunlight Foundation and Citizens Against Government Waste, which also has slogged this for 20 years, some progress is being made.
