Among the latest batch of opinions the N.C. Court of Appeals has issued this morning:

  • A unanimous three-judge panel dismissed some coastal communities’ appeal of the N.C. Insurance Commissioner’s statewide increase in homeowners’ insurance rates.?
  • A unanimous three-judge panel reversed a lower court ruling and supported Charlotte city government in a dispute over the actions city police should have taken when they stopped an erratic driver who later died of a brain hemorrhage.
  • A unanimous three-judge panel reversed the N.C. Industrial Commission and supported the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services in a dispute over the state’s responsibility in the case of vaccine-related mental retardation suffered by a baby at Durham Regional Hospital in 1993.
  • A unanimous three-judge panel affirmed an Industrial Commission ruling against an employee in a worker’s compensation suit against RDU Airport Authority.
