The N.C. General Assembly’s return to Raleigh this week prompted media outlets to turn to the John Locke Foundation for analysis of top 2014 legislative issues. Director of Communications Mitch Kokai appeared twice this week on Time Warner Cable News, first in a story on film incentives and then in a “Capital Tonight” segment focusing on Gov. Pat McCrory’s state budget plan. Kokai also discussed McCrory’s budget proposal with Henry Hinton WTIB Radio and with Curtis Wright on WMYT Radio.

Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray joins Bill LuMaye this afternoon on Talk Radio WPTF to discuss key issues state lawmakers face as they resume their work. Gray continues twice-weekly politics and public policy updates for WTSB Radio. 

Director of Research and Education Studies Terry Stoops discussed Common Core public school standards during a debate on LuMaye’s WPTF program. He discussed McCrory’s education plan with Lockwood Phillips on WTKF’s “Viewpoints Radio.” TWC News interviewed Stoops about the latest developments in the Leandro school funding court case.

Carolina Journal Managing Editor Rick Henderson discussed during a WPTF Radio appearance Associate Editor Dan Way‘s article about legislators considering new state health insurance mandates. LuMaye also discussed Way’s article on his program. Henderson continues his regular “On the Trail” electoral updates for Curtis Media Group’s syndicated “People In Politics” radio program.

In the Queen City, WSOC Television interviewed JLF Economics and Regulatory Policy Analyst Michael Lowrey about US Airways route additions from Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Along with her broadcast media appearances, Gray offered a legislative preview during a presentation to the Cumberland County Republican Women. Director of Education Outreach Lindalyn Kakadelis discussed the state’s top education issues during a speech to the Appalachian Republican Women’s Club in Mitchell County. Kokai discussed recent pro-growth state reforms in a presentation for N.C. State University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Initiative. He heads to Chapel Hill Sunday for a panel discussion on redistricting reform.
