Per Fox:

…fat bottoms have been scientifically proven to be a sign of good health.

New research, published in the journal Cell Metabolism, suggests the fat responsible for producing the pear shape flaunted by celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce may be active in protecting women from diseases by releasing certain hormones.

This is more research that turns widely held “conventional wisdom” on its ear, and although that hardly suffices as reason to discount the CV automatically, it is enough to question it and not be doctrinaire about it. So I suppose it’s too much to hope that attractive celebrities will stop going Hollywood.

Nevertheless, it would be nice to find more skepticism in the media about well-“known” scientific findings, so that society doesn’t go through more erratic swings over the scientifically proven dangers no benefits no dangers no benefits of, for example, eggs, tobacco, beer, wine, chocolate, low-fat diets, plastic bags, ethanol, green living, ad nauseam.

As it is, Sir Mix-a-Lot might have been ahead of the curve(s) when he proclaimed back in 1992, “Shake dat healthy butt!” Quick, someone tell a despondent Oprah!
