The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has released a decision
in which public schools can ban T-shirts that are “hurtful” to other
students. The case stems from a student wearing a shirt that said,
“Homesexuality is shameful.” To me, this is silly. What’s hurtful to
one person isn’t going to be hurtful to another. I have no problems
with dress codes that say shorts must be a certain length, but for the
courts to dictate what your T-shirt can say seems a little far fetched
to me.
