Let’s be clear about this, there is no way 11,000 people were in the building for the UNC-Sacred Heart game at Bobcat arena last night. Maybe that many tix were sold, but there had to be 2,000 no shows in that number. That is downright shocking considering all the Tar Heel fans in the Charlotte area.

And hats off to the NCAA — the owners of the NIT brand — for an utterly leaden and fan-hostile game atmosphere. In-game stats on the arena’s massive video boards? Nope. Just NCAA advertising. Thanks guys, can’t get enough of that.

As for the ticket prices, well, they are Bobcat arena prices. Single night tix at $32 and $49, which are universally being called high for a college game this morning. Maybe it will pick up tonite when UNC-Winthrop meet-up tonite for what should be a pretty good game.

But can someone please explain why the games were played on the Charlotte Sting floor? Bizarre.
