Paul Chesser’s CJ Exclusive on fingerprint technology firm Privaris continues to generate ink in the Washington Daily News. Last week the paper ran a piece that used as its foundation, Chesser’s account of the questions created by the company’s receipt of $307,575 from the state’s Tobacco Trust Fund and its failure to create the 10 to 15 jobs that were promised. On Monday the coverage continued with a piece that quoted Tobacco Trust Fund Commission Executive Director William Upchurch saying the commission “got pretty good results” on the Privaris deal and that in the grant business, “you’re not going to hit a home run every time.” CJ and JLF were referenced again as well. Questions remain, including those surrounding the role played by North Carolina’s Northeast Partnership Executive Director, Rick Watson, whom CJ’s sources say is an investor in the firm,
