The ball is in Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong’s court now. All 46 DNA tests of Duke lacrosse players have come back negative. No DNA on her, and the only DNA in the bathroom was on towels and it came from two of the guys who live in the house. Nifong’s case is now more full of holes than a lacrosse goal net.

If these charges are dropped, as they should be after this news, will the pot-banging demonstrators apologize? Will the Al Sharpton wannabes who demonstrated yesterday at the Buchanan Boulevard house apologize? Will President Brodhead, who played to the leftists on his campus, apologize to the team? Will anyone apologize to Mike Pressler, the coach who resigned? Will Nifong, who convicted a whole team in the press two weeks ago, apologize?

Probably not. This will just be deemed by those people as an incident that, whether true or not, illustrates the greater truth of white privilege and racism at Duke and in society at large. They will conflate the hard partying with the alleged rape and the alleged use of racial slurs. No rape? Well, what they did was just as bad, they will say. And, sadly, many will buy it.
