You might have read the following, which originates from the Wake GOP Page on Facebook. It discusses an event Wednesday protesting President Obama’s visit to N.C. State University.

The John Locke Foundation will be hosting a free lunch at their headquarters starting at about 11:00 am and then providing either carpools or busses [sic] to NCSU for the protest at 12:15.

This is incorrect. Americans for Prosperity rents space in the same building as the John Locke Foundation office in Raleigh. AFP occasionally uses the building’s conference room for AFP activities. The John Locke Foundation has nothing to do with any planned protest or lunch. Nor will JLF have anything to do with any transportation to or from N.C. State University in conjunction with a protest or lunch.

At least one left-of-center commentator has characterized the false Wake GOP Facebook post as evidence that JLF is helping “coordinate” the protest. For the reasons stated above, this is also incorrect.

4:25 p.m. update: The false information quoted above also was included in a letter emailed from the Wake County Republican Party. That letter is also incorrect.
