While 27 counties had a local tax increase option on the ballot yesterday, all but six said, no thanks to paying more taxes. John presented a great initial analysis today. For a quick snapshot see the map below:

UPDATE: When final results were tabulated in Columbus County, taxpayers actually rejected the sales tax increase 2,266 (no) to 2115 (yes). Earlier reports indicated that Columbus County had accepted the tax increase. But the voters there were tired of paying taxes after all and said no to the Tax Man! The map below has been updated to reflect the change in Columbus County’s status regarding the vote.
