Perhaps county governments should hire even more planners, as there seems to be a shortage of public safety personnel.
Graham County and Swain County are arguing over who will provide ambulance service for Deal’s Gap, an area notorious for motorcycle wrecks. Graham just announced they will not service the area over Labor Day weekend.
This is not that abnormal. I recall a personal experience when I lived in the woods of Madison County and called 911 because I had a prowler. I listened to Buncombe and Madison County personnel argue over the phone for half an hour as they tried to determine who was responsible for the call.
