This weekend I had dinner with friends at Mez, a fairly new Mexican restaurant — it’s what I call California-style Mexican — in Research Triangle Park. The RTP economy seems to be zipping along just fine, as the place was busy and I had to park my SUV in an adjacent lot. No problem.

But imagine my surprise as I approached the restaurant entrance to see three empty parking spots right up front. I assumed they were handicapped spots, but as I got closer, I noticed there was a message painted on the pavement: Hybrid Vehicles Only.

The spots were empty when I arrived, and they were empty when I exited nearly three hours later.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal offers this update on the hybrid car market.
