A Diaper Drive is now going down in Boone. I am glad, as I would hate to chance upon something by that name in downtown Asheville. For folks in more normal parts of the world, like Watauga County, it is just an attempt to collect disposable diapers for the poor. Food Stamps and WIC programs do not pay for disposable diapers, considering them a luxury. In the way back when, they were considered bad for the environment, but the tide may have changed with phosphate-laced wastewater a greater threat than poo on the shoe in a Kmart parking lot. The pros and cons abound.
