The following was announced in the local daily:

The Western N.C. Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union will host a panel on the state’s new voting laws from 7:30-9 p.m. Thursday in the Humanities Lecture Hall at UNC Asheville. The event is free and open to the public.

Titled “Fighting Back Against Voter Suppression,” the panel will focus on efforts by the ACLU, the Department of Justice and other groups to challenge election changes that eliminate a week of early voting, same-day registration and out-of-precinct voting.
