Graham County is suing Swain County because it could convince a judge that it deserves a greater share of the property taxes collected from the TVA for the hydroelectric installations at the Fontana Dam. The decision is based on the fact that more of the TVA’s fixtures are in Graham County. Surely other factors could force a ruling in favor of Swain. Now that Graham County can get $17,000 more a month, it wants to make Swain pay that amount to retroactively cover sixty-seven years.
