Meanwhile, at over at Greensboro’s city-owned sports venue, coliseum director Matt Brown, after taking a shot at Rotary Club members who didn’t support War Memorial Auditorium and swim center bonds, puts the hard sell for the NCAA Women’s Final Four on tournament officials:

But like a 3-point shooter who takes a skip pass across the zone defense, Matt Brown couldn’t hold back Tuesday afternoon. The 2012 Final Four was on his mind, and the Greensboro Coliseum’s managing director fired away.

“Our ultimate goal is convincing the NCAA women’s basketball committee to leave the cavernous, cold environment of domed stadiums and less-than-appreciative big cities of America for Greensboro’s true, warm, Southern hospitality and the best basketball sight lines in America,” Brown said, thereby dispensing with the subtleties and kicking off an effort to bring the national championship to the facility he runs.

Women’s college basketball isn’t my cup of tea, so tp speak. But hey, asses in the seats over on Lee Street is always a good thing, right?
